Shaakindustóow, Ed Littlefield, is a freelance percussionist, educator and composer based in Seattle, WA. He performs in many ensembles of different genres the internationally known ensemble The Dallas Brass, Juxtapercussion, and the Native Jazz Quartet. As a Lingít Native, originally from Sitka, Alaska, Ed has drawn from traditional music and melodies of his heritage to progress a genre that combines jazz stylings with Lingít folkloric music. His group the Native Jazz Quartet has extensively toured South America at the behest of the U.S State department.
In addition to performing Ed is also an active educator working as a private instructor, clinician and artists in the school instructor. He has done numerous workshops in schools around the country ranging from body percussion to Lingít music instruction. He also teaches music at the nationally recognized Sitka Fine Arts Camp and is co-director of the Sitka Jazz Week.
Ed has also worked as a theater designer around the country. Most recently he has done sound design and composition for Off the Rails at Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, OR, Sovereignty at the Arena stage in Washington, D.C. and The Thanksgiving Play at Artists Repertory Theater in Portland, OR.
