Totally II-V's - Song Analysis for Improvisation,
Erik Hanson,
Monday, 5:30-7:00pm

This is a 5 week course, running June 22nd - July 20th, 2020.

This class is open to everyone.

Do you wish you knew more about what notes "work" when soloing on a song? This class develops your understanding of harmonic progressions (chord progressions) and song forms to be better equipped for improvisation (and memorization).

Class will cover harmonies that include diatonic chord progressions, secondary dominants, passing diminished chords, substitute dominants, and modal interchange through weekly work on Roman Numeral Analysis and Tonality Identification.

A basic understanding of chord types is helpful but not required. A basic knowledge of key signatures is the minimum knowledge needed to benefit from the class.

Totally II V's Students

Totally II V's students from this past school year include this class in their curriculum as a culmination and application of their increased fluency in all keys and their ability to recognize tonalities by II V’s.

Zoom Video Conferencing free account required for this class. Further instructions upon purchase.

This is a 10 week course, meeting online once a week for 90 minutes.
