Market Title: Program & Community Engagement Assistant

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Wage: $15/hr

Shift/Hours/Days: Flexible 9/10 am – 5/6 pm, Mon-Fri, occasional evening and weekend hours

Full-Time: 40 Hours per week 

Jazz Night School is a Seattle nonprofit organization offering year-round ensembles and instruction for aspiring jazz musicians—instrumentalists and vocalists—of all ages.

The Program & Community Engagement Assistant is a full time position, working directly with the Operations Manager and Executive Director to assist in the running and coordinating of the school.

The Program & Community Engagement Assistant will also work with internal and external parties to organize the various components needed to initiate, run and complete major projects. 

Duties include marketing, fundraising support, communications, limited bookkeeping, reporting, coordinating performances, placing orders for supplies and services, and tracking progress and results. 

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Marketing: 
    • Managing marketing calendar
    • Designing and/or maintaining website, flyers and event programs
    • Working with marketing channels 
    • Communicating with other organizations, institutions and businesses

  • Fundraising:
    • Assist with fundraising events
    • Coordinating volunteers
    • Support grant applications and processing
    • Create and maintain organizational data for grant applications 

  • Program and curriculum
    • Performances and gigs: scheduling; communications; venues (booking, setup and cleanup, and payment); gig coordination with clients and musicians.
    • Maintaining the music library 
    • Coordinating workshops and master classes

  • Operational support
    • Office and school resource management
    • Financial report generation
    • Provide support for board of directors

Job Requirements:

Requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of Word, Excel, and QuickBooks. Requires organization skills and self management. Needs to see problems and solve them independently, in coordination with the Operations Manager and Executive Director. Requires some evening and weekend work. Mode of transportation necessary for various errands.

Job Preferences: 

Bachelor's degree preferred. Some experience with graphics design software (Adobe) preferred.
