This class further develops the building blocks of jazz harmony by exploring common patterns of chord progressions through harmonic analysis.

  • Harmonic understanding of chord progressions
  • Song analysis and chord scales
  • Construction of extended chords

Student Requirements
This class is for students learning jazz improvisation who have at least beginning notation skills and have Jazz Harmony 1 skills (can construct intervals, scales, triads, 6th and 7th chords).

Students supply 12-stave manuscript notebook and pencil.

Homework
Students work on weekly writing assignments along with playing the week’s material on their instruments.

Class meets 1 hour weekly

Registration and Payments

Registration requires payment in full by the first meeting of a session (unless special arrangements have been made). Seats are filled on a ‘first-come, first-serve’ basis and cannot be assigned unless payment is received. Payments can be made by cash, check, or credit card.
