This class develops students’ relative pitch skills using "movable Do" Solfege studies, and increases the ability to recognize intervals and basic chord types. Structured to facilitate skill improvement at various levels, this class is open to all and can be repeated until achievement of students' goals.

  • Learn to know what you’re hearing
  • Connect your ear to your instrument
  • Learn more easily from recordings
  • Learn to recognize notes, intervals, and chords

Student Requirements

Students need to know note names, and have at least minimum playing skills on their instrument. Students supply a 12-stave notebook and pencils.

Homework

Homework is comprised of ear training exercises (materials and drills are available online). The more time students invest, the greater their gains.

Class meets 1 hour weekly
