Note: This class will be delayed by one week and will begin on Saturday, April 4th.
An important part of a jazz musician’s craft involves listening carefully to recorded solos and playing the solo on his or her instrument. This class takes students through various transcription and improvisation assignments. We discuss how to understand and creatively apply transcribed musical material to specific jazz songs. Students will have the opportunity to play their instrument during class.
This is a 5 week course, meeting online once a week for 90 minutes. We have extended this session to 10 weeks, so if you'd like to join the full session, be sure to add two seats to your cart. Instructors will live stream via Zoom Video Conferencing at the scheduled meeting times. We appreciate your patience as we are quickly putting together online learning in this time of constant change. We recognize that there will likely be a learning curve with this technology (for both students and staff), and will do our best to provide technical support throughout this process.
