This class utilizes the superb new music training app Harmony Cloud™, developed by jazz vibraphonist Stefon Harris, and Clif Swiggett.

The promise of the class is learning to hear chords and play by ear with a deeper emotional connection to harmony, which involves developing and trusting your ears, and then enriching your harmonic vocabulary. As an “ears-on” approach to harmonic ear training (should there be any other way?), Jazz Night School is excited to offer this innovative and thoughtfully guided path toward the goal of better improvising musicians. This is a chance to move beyond traditional ear training and try an immersive, musical, emotional experience, free of judgement, that enables you to explore and learn harmony.

I have struggled with ear training, particularly with learning to distinguish chords. With the harmony cloud app, I have made significant progress…..and this after over a year of making no progress with other ear training programs. Cliff has helped me to make even more progress with his teaching. Part of his strategy is to break it down into small sections, but additionally he was able to help me make a real breakthrough by getting me to try something a little different with the app. I have a lot more confidence now in my ability to move forward with ear training. I highly recommend this class. – Marcy Reed
