Instruments:
This class will run April 2nd - June 4th, 2019.
This hands-on/ears-on/instruments-on rhythm studies class will improve your rhythmic skills and knowledge of rhythms used in grooves/feels, comping, and solos for core jazz styles. Open to all instrumentalists and vocalists, all skill levels. Taught by jazz percussionist and educator Larry Jones, the class will focus on exercises that develop your command of essential rhythmic elements such as anticipations, syncopation, subdivisions, and hemiolas. The class will also develop your knowledge of the rhythmic roles of each instrument in typical jazz grooves.

Show up, with your instrument.

Homework

In addition to working on content covered in class, short rhythmic transcriptions may be assigned that illustrate content covered.

Class meets 1.5 hours weekly

Registration and Payments

Registration requires payment in full by the first meeting of a session (unless special arrangements have been made). Seats are filled on a ‘first-come, first-serve’ basis and cannot be assigned unless payment is received. Payments can be made by cash, check, or credit card.
