Tal Cohen Workshop

Sunday, March 31, 2018 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Based in Miami, Israeli pianist Tal Cohen visits Seattle to discuss how world music influences diverge from jazz norms to help create new styles of improvisation and compositional forms. Having studied a variety of musical styles, from classical music to traditional Jewish folk songs, Cohen will discuss his process so you can create your own original sound with these influences. Having a unique approach informed from different world cultures and musics will set you apart as musician, bringing offerings to the musical table of what defines jazz - something creative, new and unique.

Jazz Pianist Tal Cohen is the winner of the 2014 Barry Harris Piano Competition and the grand prize winner of the 2015 Freedman Fellowship held at the Sydney Opera House. His most recent album, "Gentle Giants", has been getting great acclaim as well a 4-star reviews from Downbeat Magazine, All About Jazz and Jazz and Beyond. Most recently, Cohen has been touring the world in support of his new record, performing his original compositions and sharing his unique style to attentive and appreciative audiences everywhere.
