The Art of Improvisation,
Jake Svendsen,
Saturday, 12:00-1:30pm

Class ID:

Note: This class will be delayed by one week and will begin on Saturday, April 4th.

This class, for the intermediate to advanced students, explores topics related to jazz improvisation, looking in depth at how to navigate common jazz standards as well as more challenging chord progressions. Chord substitutions, extensions, and how to play “outside” the chord changes will be discussed. Importantly, students learn how to solo melodically so that each note has meaning. Musicians will have the opportunity to play their instrument during class.

Zoom Video Conferencing free account required for this class. Further instructions upon purchase.

This is a 5 week course, meeting online once a week for 90 minutes. We have extended this session to 10 weeks, so if you'd like to join the full session, be sure to add two seats to your cart. Instructors will live stream via Zoom Video Conferencing at the scheduled meeting times. We appreciate your patience as we are quickly putting together online learning in this time of constant change. We recognize that there will likely be a learning curve with this technology (for both students and staff), and will do our best to provide technical support throughout this process.
