This course will give an overview of the artistry, technique, repertoire, influences and harmonic language of Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan and Woody Shaw.  We’ll explore recordings and analyze transcriptions of each musician to gain insight into their individual creative and expressive voice within the jazz trumpet idiom.  Examples of harmonic and rhythmic patterns, concepts and implications will be given for you to understand and practice.

This is a 5 week course, meeting online once a week for 90 minutes. We have extended this session to 10 weeks, so if you'd like to join the full session, be sure to add two seats to your cart. Instructors will live stream via Zoom Video Conferencing at the scheduled meeting times.
