Jay Mabin

Jay Mabin is a familiar name to northwest audiences. For over 50 years, he has been a
mainstay on the jazz and blues scene, having performed with Bud Shank, Sonny Terry,
Bo Didley, Lee Oskar, Carter Jefferson and Barbara Donald among many others. Jay
played double bass on trumpeter Barbara Donald’s first album as a leader and studied
jazz harmonica with Toots Thielemans and Howard Levy. In 1993, Jay composed and
performed all the music for the Intiman Theater Company’s production of “From the
Mississippi Delta.” Currently, Jay regularly appears at local clubs and festivals as well as in the studio with some of the Northwest’s finest.
