Shawn Schlogel

Shawn Schlogel is a Seattle-based pianist, keyboardist, educator, arranger, and musical director with more than two decades of experience as both a performer and teacher. He has taught hundreds of students, maintains an active private teaching studio, and previously served as an instructor at Bellevue College, where he taught jazz combos, group piano, private lessons, music theory, and music history.

Shawn particularly enjoys working with beginning and developing musicians. His teaching emphasizes practical musicianship—including listening, rhythm, improvisation, ensemble communication, and confidence—while creating an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting, and learning at their own pace.

An active performer throughout the Seattle area, Shawn works in settings ranging from solo piano and small combos to large ensembles. He also leads his own groups and serves as musical director and arranger for ’60s Flashback, where he arranges for and leads the band. He brings curiosity, humor, patience, and extensive real-world performance experience to every ensemble he teaches.
