Audrey Stangland
Audrey is a Washington raised trombone player and singer. An amazingly versatile player, she dips into a variety of styles including jazz, r&b, salsa, banda, ska, and classical music. Audrey’s love of jazz dates back to early childhood where Ella & Louie duets echoed through her home. Her commanding trombone sound has incredible authority with a bit of sweetness to balance. Her vocal influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, Keely Smith and Nai Palm. Audrey attended Central Washington University where she studied classical bass trombone with John Neurohr. She played bass trombone in CWU’s award-winning Jazz Band 1, performing with them at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 2015. Craving more versatility, the following year Audrey landed the lead trombone chair in CWU’s Jazz 1. Since then she has continued to grow musically as a trombonist, vocalist, and teacher. Audrey is a recording and performing artist in Seattle, performing with groups that include the Alex Dugdale Big Band, Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Freddy Fuego Big Band, Eléré, Nueva Era, Banda Vagos, and Simple Minded Symphony.
